When to Visit - The best time to visit Vidraru Dam and Lake is between May and October, when the weather is mild, and the Transfăgărășan Road is fully open (typically from late June to early October due to snow at higher elevations). How to Get There - Vidraru is located about 160 kilometers (100 miles) northwest of Bucharest and can be reached by car in roughly 3-4 hours. The most direct route is via the DN7 and DN7C national roads. Public transportation options are limited, so renting a car is recommended for flexibility and ease of travel.
